Intel plans WiMAX trials in Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines by the end of 2005. Trials will begin in Vietnam, Indonesia, and South Korea in 2006. Intel is hoping to implement a worldwide commercial roll-out over the next two to three years.
According to Intel, different WiMAX architectures are being tested in Thailand to be a possible blueprint for WiMAX implementations throughout Southeast Asia. Various applications, including VoIP and healthcare services, are being tested in both rural and suburban environments.
